Although along with many others I realise the good work hospices do, I do not agree with building on green belt land when there are other suitable premises or sites available. This will set a very bad precedent!

As you would expect of any decent, moral person, we will be opposing Ron Martin's money-grubbing scheme to build an out-of-town shopping centre on greenbelt land while failing the Southend United fans whose current stadium is not only entirely adequate for the club's purposes, but centrally located and easy to reach for both home and away fans by public transport and on foot. The proposal has nothing to do with football and everything to do with selling valuable centrally-located land to line the pockets of businessmen who have no real interest in football or the public at large.

We are facing rising fuel costs and because of the dwindling global oil supply, they will continue to rise. It is therefore ridiculous to propose a location that everyone would have to drive to.

I suggest that your people support Southend Uniteds plans - you need to understand that there are thousands of us out there who want to see this go ahead and want to see the regeneration of the town!
