Member numbers: We now have 18 members

Meeting venue: 16 Queens Road Southend on sea.

Presentation and website link requests:

A year four teacher from a school in Basildon, has asked SEEFOE to do a talk about global warming, (Peter and Alex) will do this

Rev. Jaya in South Ockendon asked SEEFOE to do a talk to 11-19 years olds about preserving resources, (John said he might do this)

Brian at Solar Centre a business providing environmentally friendly products requested a link from out SEEFOE website. We all agreed that this would not be a goof idea as yet. We need to perhaps have the opportunity to try out some of the products and maybe we could do an article.

Denis has now received the certificate for our domain name.

FOE Regional gathering: on the 6th of May human rights gathering in London 11am – 4pm, hosted by amnesty International at the Human rights Action Centre, was discussed and will be attended by Kim and Peter, and Denis.

Tony Juniper, FoE director will be in attendance.

Rayleigh review and follow up: The Rayleigh High Street campaign went well over, in all we gave away 402 light bulbs and got 201 Big Ask postcards signed. Sent the postcards to FOE, but the meeting decided it would be more beneficial to give them to the MP Mark Françoise personally. This may influence Françoise to sigh up for Big Ask campaign list. If he does not we are considering going back to Rayleigh high street to complete another campaign.

MP’s Dudridge and Amiss have already signed up so no need for further campaigning for their areas on this subject.

Other campaigns: We discussed going to Burnham and set up outside the CO-OP for Big Ask campaign on the 20th target John Constable. The Co-op has since agreed to allow us to use their car park for the stall, which will hopefully make the campaign more productive. Emails will be sent out for those wanting further details of the event. More bulbs are available and we hope to gain lots of interest yet again.

AOB:

Sue said she might be able to personally talk to Mark Françoise, contact him by email, as she is resident in his campaign area. This will give us the opportunity to present the Big Ask postcards at one of his surgeries.

We also discussed a possible launch party for our, relatively newly formed SEEFOE. It is possible that FoE may pay for the launch party and we could use it as an advertising opportunity!

Our current treasure has had trouble attending meetings due to personal problems and we still do not have out bank account open. Sue offered to take over as treasurer to make things easier for Roger and Peter offered to do the banking as he is close to a Co-op bank.. Kim will contact Roger Thompson to see what his position is on the matter.

The next meeting will take place on the 6th June at 16 Queens Road.
