  1. Apologies for absence:

  2. Minutes of last meeting:

  3. South East Essex College - Alex Norman:
    At the last meeting, Nina Hughes asked about establishing links with any environmental groups at the Southend campus of Essex Uni. The following day, we received an email from Alex Norman of the SEEC magazine asking for an interview with someone from SEEFoE. DW replied offering to do this and also asked about any environmental groups at the college. So far there has not been a reply, but DW will chase this up.
  4. Big Ask Action - deadline 12th June:
    FOE head office has written to the group asking us to respond to the Government's consultation on the draft Climate Change Bill.
    DW distributed copies of the "10 minute action" sheet and gave the address to write to at DEFRA. http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/climatechange-bill/ gives full details of the Climate Change Bill consultation.
    MD asked why we are bothering with postcards then. DW pointed out that we still need to pressurise the MPs to support the CC bill in Parliament as well.
    DW will speak to Alex Phillips of the Climate team at FoE head office to see if there are any materials for the CC bill consultation available to use at a street stall.
  5. Big Ask - Basildon High St: 28th April, 10am:
    Reminder that we are planning to run the postcard/lightbulb stall in Basildon at the end of the month. KP has applied for permission to run the stall, but is still waiting for this to be confirmed.
  6. Temple Sutton - the next step:
    Frank Gulley (headteacher of Temple Sutton) is interested in the scheme and wants to know more. PW has emailed Nina letting her know. The next step will be to organise a meeting between SEEFoE and TS led by Nina.
  7. Next meeting:
    The next meeting will be on 1st May 2007 at 7:30pm at 14, Scratton Road.

    • Finance:
      No change since last meeting.
    • Membership Fees:
      Fees for 2007 need to be collected. DW now has membership list, so can work out who needs to be asked for money. Need to also check this against the mailing list.
