- Big Ask Stall:
Set for 10am at Grays. Howard, the regional co-ordinator will attend. KP will attend with bulbs and table. DW has some new materials including some huge posters. MD will also go.
- Football Stadium:
DW wrote letter- this will go on the website. Doesn’t think it is likely to affect the Inspector’s decision though. Group not happy to see stadium and the development up in that area e.g. B&Q
- Renaissance Southend:
Need to arrange a meeting with this group, so we can go through our alternative plans for the town. JF gave an update; the council want to build an Olympic standard pool at the edge of town and put a fun pool in to replace Warrior square. Only problem is we don’t reckon the fun pool would ever be built. SF mentioned that the council had just received several hundred thousand pounds for regenerating the warrior square area. PW suggested bike trees in Southend- DW to mention this in our plan. The borough has a target to build some 6500 new homes by 2021, 1000 of which are ear marked for Shoebury. SF suggests council should be looking to exceed building regulations.
- Report on Conferences attended by SF:
There was a transport conference in Chelmsford and also the stakeholder nuclear consultation out towards Bradwell. SF noted that although everyone at the meeting was pro nuclear, they were not anti renewables, and actually seemed quite keen to use both, though the decision did appear to already have been taken. There was then a discussion about wind turbines, and the noise they make. Gabrielle mentioned a cousin who has found them to be noisy, JF said that in his experience they are not noisy.
